God and Me Final Review

These are questions that can aid the pastor in conducting a final review of the God and Me curriculum. Please do not ask all the questions. The intent of the final review is not to quiz or “stump” the child, but to dialogue with the child and help him or her express what they have learned. The questions below are to be used to discover what the child is eager to share with you. Find the questions that resonate with the child. The questions cover the book, the GAMEBox, and the family projects.

The final review may be done with one child or with a group of children.

God and Me Student Workbook

God and Me is designed to help children become best friends with Jesus and tell their story of “God and Me” together.

Section 1: God Created Me - Children studied the creation story and learned that God was pleased with all creation. They acknowledged God as Creator and gave praise to God.

1.            Tell me about the “scribble pet” you made on page 4.

2.            What are the pictures on page 5 all about? What do you remember about the creation story?

3.            Show me your picture on page 6. Which is your favorite comment? Who wrote it?  [If possible, add your own comment to this page!]

4.            I know you read a passage from Isaiah that taught you that God calls you by your name (page 7). That should make you feel very special and want to praise God. Would you read the Song of Praise that you wrote on page 8?

5.            Please show me the hands on page 9. What did you draw in them? What did you write under them?

Section 2: Jesus is God’s Gift to Me - Children learned of God’s love through Jesus. They told parallel stories of their own birth and the birth of Jesus and proclaimed that Jesus was born to be their Savior.

1.            You had to draw one of your favorite gifts on page 11. What was it? Why is it special?

2.            What was God’s special gift to us? Why is Jesus so special?

3.            John 3:16 is an important Bible verse. What did you write on page 15?

4.            Please show me the hands on page 16. What did you draw in them? What did you write under them?

Section 3: I Can Talk with God - Children learned how important prayer was to Jesus and that God wants them to pray. They learned four parts of prayer to help them share their thoughts with God and were required to memorize the Lord’s Prayer.

1.            Can you pray the Lord’s Prayer with me? (add your signature to page 19)

2.            Why do we pray?

3.            How do we pray? What does PATH stand for?

4.            Tell me the story about Samuel. I like the way it reminds us to listen to God.

5.            Please show me the hands on page 23. What did you draw in them? What did you write under them?

Section 4: Because God Cares for Me, I Can Care for Others -  Children learned that God is their Good Shepherd, and they were challenged to reach out and be “good shepherds” to those around them.

1.                  On page 26, you drew a shepherd and called it Jesus. Then you drew a sheep and called it yourself. Why? How is Jesus a shepherd? How are you like a sheep?

2.                  Look on page 27 and tell me some of the people who act as good shepherds for you. [if your name is not listed, ask the child to add you to this page!]

3.                  Tell me about Zacchaeus. What did you like about this story?

4.                  How can you be a good shepherd to other people? (page 28)

5.                  Please show me the hands on page 29. What did you draw in them? What did you write under them?

GAMEBox

The word GAMEBox stands for “God And Me Exploring BOX.” The children made four different games to keep in their game boxes. The games were based on the Bible stories they studied.

Encourage the child to freely talk about the games. You may want to know what the connection was between the game and the Bible lesson, but the child may be more interested in talking about how he or she made the game, and who won when the family played the game at home.

1.                  I know you made a matching or memory game (p. 9). Show me some of the pictures that you drew.

2.                  The Guessing Game was when you had to pin a name on somebody’s back and guess who you were (p. 16).  I’ll challenge you. Go ahead and pin a name on my back, and let’s see how long it takes before I guess the answer. And then I’ll pin a name on your back, and see how long it takes before you guess the answer.

3.                  Tell me about your prayer cube (p. 23). Can you demonstrate how it works?

4.                  Show me your board game. Can I ask you some of the questions on the game cards?

5.                  What was your favorite game? Why?
