The following is a sample newsletter article to announce a God
and Me class at youth agencies (Boy Scouts of America, Camp
Fire USA, Girl Scouts of the USA). Remember, youth from all
Protestant and Independent churches can work on this program
(even if they do not belong to a youth agency)
Text for announcements in youth agency newsletters, etc.:
All young people in first, second, and third grades who
are members of a ____________ (list a specific denomination or
“Protestant or Independent”) church are invited to join us on
______________(date) at ____________(time) to begin a God and
Me program at ________________(name of meeting place). We will
be meeting __________________(list dates or frequency – ie:
every Monday for five weeks). The God and Me program is
designed to help children become best friends with Jesus as
they tell their story of God and Me together. Children will
make a GAMEBOX (God And Me Exploring BOX) to help them explore
God’s love with their families. We will celebrate the
completion of the program with a party on _____________ (date
– list this information only if you will be having a final
class party). The cost of this program is _____ (list price),
which covers the price of the student workbook. This program
is officially recognized by _________________(list agency – ie:
Boy Scouts of America) as the religious awards program for
youth in Protestant* and Independent churches. In addition to
participating in the meetings and completing family projects,
children are required to share what they have learned with
their pastor before they are eligible for the award which may
be worn on their uniform. Call _____________ (name) at

for the program.
*The term “Protestant” includes AME, Assembly of God, Baptist,
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Church of God,
Episcopal, Lutheran, Nazarene, Pentecostal, Presbyterian,
Reformed, United Church of Christ, United Methodist,
Independent Churches and others.
