Scout sponsored programs at their religious institution than to begin a new volunteer position in the Girl Scout organization. Awareness of the Girl Scout program: Girl Scout announcements made during a worship service or articles included in newsletters will reach all members of that religious community. Councils can enjoy the support of like-minded institutions to promote the ideals of Girl Scouting and to address issues affecting the quality of life for all girls and young women (e.g. sex discrimination, juvenile justice, substance abuse, etc.). Spiritual emphasis: Religious organizations provide the spiritual component which is at the heart of the Girl Scout Promise, “to serve God.” Girl Scouts are encouraged to be active participants in their own religious groups.
