Presentation Materials

The suggested RRI Team presentation is written for adult leaders in a variety of settings (neighborhood/service unit meetings, training events, etc.). The presentation starts with an explanation of WHY leaders and girls should be informed about the religious recognitions programs, outlines the steps that a Girl Scout would take to participate in these programs, and concludes by emphasizing the leader’s role in passing this information on to every girl in the troop. It is not enough to explain the religious recognitions programs: you must distribute the Interfaith Quick Reference Chart and explain the importance of the leader’s role in providing this information to girls and their families.

The presentation is available in three different formats: full script, outline, and training design (RRI Team members should choose the format most comfortable for them). This is a 20 minute presentation (allow an additional 10 minutes for questions) that may be adapted to meet specific time constraints. Handouts and other materials that are mentioned in the presentation may be found in the appendices. Here are the two primary materials needed for a RRI Team presentation and how to get them:
Color Poster - This poster includes pictures all the religious recognitions that are recognized by GSUSA. The poster helps leaders understand the scope of the religious recognitions programs and connects these programs
to the Girl Scout Promise. RRI Team members will automatically receive a poster when they are registered with P.R.A.Y. (see “Registration Form in Appendix 2A).
Interfaith Quick Reference Chart - This chart tells leaders and Girl Scouts how to obtain the booklets for each specific faith group. This chart lists the names, addresses, phone numbers, and web pages of all the religious recognitions programs recognized by GSUSA. A black and white, 8-1/2 x11 reproducible handout is provided in Appendix 2A. The color version of this chart (which includes photos and the Frequently Asked Questions) is available from P.R.A.Y. (see Order Form in Appendix 2A).
To insure the success of your presentation, please take the time to fill out the worksheet/check list found in Appendix 2A.

The RRI Team may have the opportunity to set up a display at different council or district events. Even though the Team won’t be making an official “presentation,” having a presence at these events and being a visible part of Girl Scouting is an important function of the RRI Team. Some of the materials contained in the appendices (especially the “Interfaith Quick Reference Chart” and the “Frequently Asked Questions” brochure) may be appropriate to have in your display as handouts.
