“Michigan enjoyed this program and the creativity of being able to design a pizza based on his own family’s story.  He loved building the pizza, step by step.”

120 Participants Join Interfaith Hike

Kent Brittain, Religious Emblems Coordinator
River District
Alamo Area Council, BSA

“Our interfaith hike on February 9th for Scout Sunday was a huge success. We had 120 participants with 8 faith stops for a 3.75 mile hike in Downtown New Braunfels, Texas. We had at least 10 families unfamiliar with the P.R.A.Y. program that wanted more information and direction so we will be helping them out to get started. We had all the P.R.A.Y. handouts and information on awards, REC's and Chaplaincy too in a personal effort to have every unit in our District with some kind of religious position filled and trained. We are very enthusiastic about what the Lord has in store for us this year and for next year's event. God bless P.R.A.Y.'s efforts to bring God's light to our youth and families."

Mission Dinner Supports Local P.R.A.Y. Program

This is the second year Pack 1879 has implemented a Mission Dinner with its charter partner, St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Midlothian, Virginia to support their local PRAY program.

Last year the Mission Dinner netted enough funds to provide a complete program of God & Me and God & Family for 26 youth, including the booklets, materials, snacks, certificates, square knots and a pizza party.  Once again, the proceeds will fully fund the P.R.A.Y. courses, including the new Jesus & Me program for K-1. Now Pack 1879 not only schedules the yearly P.R.A.Y. programs for its scouts, it also adds the Mission Dinner to its annual program.

Thanks to the leadership of Pack 1879 for stepping up and making it possible to underwrite the PRAY Program!

Pictured are Scott Leigh (Committee Chair), Ron Flournoy (Religious Emblems Coordinator), Lisa Mallory (Den Leader), and Charles Powers (Treasurer). There are others that are not pictured!

God and Me Rainbow of Blessings!

Honolulu, Hawaii

"On the drive home from the last meeting with our Pastor for the God and Me program, my daughter asked to pray for Jesus to be her Lord and Savior. It was pouring rain and we prayed and talked about God’s goodness. When we got home we were gifted with this full rainbow! What a glorious representation of God’s promises!"

Eagle Scouts Speak at Duty to God Brunch

The National Capital Area Council 2019 Interfaith Brunch featured Youth Seminars for the first time. Instead of an adult panel, there were 5 Eagle Scouts of different faiths who spoke on “What Duty to God Means to Me” and talked about their experiences earning their religious emblems. The focus on youth and their faith journeys was a huge success!

We discovered it is through intentional planning and purpose. Joanna and Ashlyn were presented with their God and Life awards at their American Heritage Girls Court of Honor. Their AHG leader shared these comments: “It was a really good program for the girls to go through, especially for teenagers. We had some good conversations, and I felt it was a good reminder of the importance of being a faithful follower this day in time! I’m so glad AHG made a religious program a part of completion for the level award!

Congratulations to Joanna and Ashlyn!
